{"id":7351,"date":"2025-11-12T07:02:44","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T07:02:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gast.edu.ge\/gasts-first-presidential-elections\/"},"modified":"2025-11-25T08:36:52","modified_gmt":"2025-11-25T08:36:52","slug":"gasts-first-presidential-elections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gast.edu.ge\/en\/gasts-first-presidential-elections\/","title":{"rendered":"GAST\u2019s First Presidential Elections"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"title-and-description\">\n            <h2 class=\"\">\n            GAST\u2019s First Presidential Elections        <\/h2>\n                        <p>On November 7, the Tbilisi Georgian-American School held its very first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/1560077041665246\/?rdid=Is0FzVYRDU255J38&amp;share_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Fshare%2Fv%2F1BX6xR2Lbi%2F#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">student presidential elections<\/a>. The mandate of GAST\u2019s President and Vice President for the upcoming year was won by 9th-grade students <strong>Nutsa Lagazidze<\/strong> and <strong>Natali Seturidze<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A total of five parties from Grades VII\u2013IX ran for the position of School President. Students of Grades VII\u2013IX, teachers, and administrative staff all had the right to vote. The final distribution of votes was as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Voice of the Future \u2013 32.4%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>GAST Knowledge \u2013 31.4%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>IGNIS \u2013 14.3%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Hope for the Future \u2013 10.5%<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Progress \u2013 10.5%<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>As part of the pre-election campaign, candidates produced promotional videos and designed posters that were displayed on the school\u2019s information boards. A few days before the election, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates presented their programs to voters during an open meeting, followed by a debate where students had the opportunity to ask questions.<\/p>\n<p>The elections were initiated and organized by <strong>Mari Kashia<\/strong>, head of the Civic Education Club <em>Democracy Lab<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Role of the School President<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The School President represents the Student Council\u2014one of the school\u2019s key structural bodies\u2014which aims to promote:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Student participation in democratic processes and encouragement of civic engagement<\/li>\n<li>Active involvement in school life<\/li>\n<li>Strengthening the principles of equality, respect, and teamwork among students<\/li>\n<li>Development of critical thinking and leadership skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The presidential elections mirror the model of a student self-governance institution and are conducted in full accordance with democratic principles.<\/p>\n<p>We sincerely thank all five parties for participating in the election. Each of their ideas is valuable for the development of our school.
